About Smore

Since 2011, we’ve helped simplify communications between schools and families—and empowered educators along the way. Here’s how we got our start and where we’re going next.

Our Story

How we got started

Smore launched in Seattle in 2011 through the Techstars Accelerator program. Initially designed as a newsletter tool for small businesses, Smore soon found its calling in the K–12 education sector, becoming a favorite among teachers and principals for its simplicity and engagement.

We secured an initial round of funding in 2013, marking a turning point in our growth.

Where we are going

In 2022, Smore joined forces with SchoolStatus, a leading provider of education communication solutions. This exciting collaboration expanded our reach and resources, allowing us to serve the education community in even more ways.

Today, our platform is used by over 6 million creators whose newsletters have received more than two billion views.
