July Newsletter Templates for Schools | Smore

TL; DR:

July is a surprisingly powerful month for school communication. Families are easier to reach, inboxes are less crowded, and your message has room to land. Smore’s July templates help you build relationships with families and staff before the first bell rings.

Summer might feel like the quiet season, but your families are paying attention. 👀 A welcome email in July reaches people when they’re not buried in school-night routines, when they’re actually curious about what’s coming, and when your message has a real shot at being the one they remember.

Smore’s July template collection is built for exactly this moment.

Start the year before it starts

The back-to-school templates in this collection, including a warm welcome letter to families, a ready-to-send principal introduction, and a Welcome, New Families newsletter, do the relationship-building work before Open House night. Families meet you before they’re standing awkwardly in a gymnasium. Staff feel seen and excited before they’ve unpacked a single supply box. 🏫

Keep the momentum going all month

The July Weekly Update template is made for summer school programs, community outreach, or districts that stay active all summer. Consistent touchpoints in July mean families stay engaged. When August comes, they’re ready. 📆

Celebrate and connect

The Fourth of July template gives you a quick, joyful reason to show up in families’ inboxes. Your counseling team gets their own spotlight with the Meet the Counselors newsletter, and the Meet the Teacher template makes the introduction season feel personal instead of procedural. ✨

Every template is editable, on-brand, and ready to send in minutes. Easy, effective, engaging, and fun, because your communication should be all four.
