Middle School Update
In Middle School we are working with students on organization. We would like to support students by encouraging them to organize their backpacks so that papers and assignments are stored in folders inside their binders. This will help alleviate the need for students to carry their backpacks all day. Some of our students are carrying backpacks that weigh over 40 lbs. This is not healthy. As a staff we are encouraging students to empty their backpacks into their lockers and then take their chromebooks and binders to each class rather than carry everything all day long. Students in band have music lockers, there are PE lockers for athletic clothes, and students in sports also have lockers in Smith Gym. Please encourage your students to use their lockers for storage.
Science and STEM classes dropped their eggs and launched their rockets. They are having a great experience with hands on science each week. If it’s Friday, students in PE classes are singing the Reardan Fight Song with Coach Dorrel and learning to clap in rhythm.
Next Friday, September 29th we will have a middle school assembly. Tegan Marrs will be here presenting on behalf of the Travis Manion Foundation - Character Does Matter group. Travis Manion was a soldier killed in action, and the foundation highlights ordinary people to do some extraordinary things. The line, "if not you, then who" is extremely powerful and makes an impact. The assembly is geared toward making students evaluate how they handle themselves everyday and choosing to be their best.
Our Reardan high school kids (Perly's kids) who do the presentation on Joe Mann, will be coming to do a 5 minute presentation before Tegan wraps up by sharing about her father, also killed in service. Upon the completion she reminds students to not just find the light but be the light.
