Late Start Mondays are starting up again this Monday, September 11th. Busses will be arriving one hour later than usual, and classes will start at 9:00 AM.

If you are planning to bring in birthday treats for your child, please contact your child’s teacher on when is the best time to have them here and ready for your child’s celebration.

Popcorn Fridays are starting again on September 22nd. Popcorn is 25 cents per bag.

School pictures for elementary students will be on September 21st. Forms will be going home next week.

HOWDY PARDNER! Western Dress-up Day is September 29th! Let’s turn Reardan Elementary into the wild west.

The PIE Group yard sale will be this Saturday, September 9th, 10 – 3 PM. All money raised will go to support the group.

The cut-off time for getting bus passes or change-of-plan messages is 2:00 PM, unless it’s a genuine emergency. Times after that point in the school day are often difficult to relay messages to students, as classes are often in locations other than their classes. This plan will help eliminate chaos for the Transportation Department, your child, and for the front office. Thank you for helping us still to this plan moving forward.

Along the same vein, if you are here to pick up your child, if at all possible, please wait until the end of the day to get them for similar reasons mentioned above. Thank you for helping to keep our students stress-free.

We are having a great time in our Middle School Eras! Students have been bringing home classroom expectations, student handbooks and other items for parents to review and sign. Please ask your student about these if you have not seen them. If you are not receiving communication home with your student, please go through their backpacks with them.

School Picture Packets went home this week during first period/homeroom. All students will have their photos taken on September 12th whether photos are purchased or not. You can always order photos on-line through Leo’s Photography either before or after picture day on the 12th.

Students received padlocks for their lockers this week. Our expectation is that any cell phones brought to school will be stored in lockers with school supplied locks. Please email me with any questions regarding cell phones, locks, or lockers. dnewsum@reardansd.net

This week Mrs. Koch got students into their new ELA curriculum, StudySynch, from McGraw-Hill. Please check in with your child to find out how this new curriculum is working. The on-line component is really different and interesting! Students did their first lab in science this week and had a lot of fun learning about the properties of liquids. Overall, our seventh graders’ favorite class is ART! They are absolutely loving learning new drawing strategies such as shading.
