Asa C. Adams School Newsletter
November 2023
Dear Asa Families,
We hope that you are enjoying the fall season and want to wish you a joyful holiday season ahead. November is usually most synonymous with the things that we are most grateful and thankful for and it has never been needed more than now to share those things with the people around us. In light of the things happening in our global community, as well as right here in Maine, something to be most thankful for is our Asa community.
During the uncertainty of events last week, you continued to trust us to care for your children, and provide them with the much needed normalcy of coming to school. Also, during this time teachers and staff put their own worries aside to focus on our students and their needs. Hopefully, helping them to feel safe and to continue doing the business of school, while also supporting their emotional needs during a difficult time. Suffice it to say, this November we are beyond grateful for all of you, the Asa staff, and most importantly our students. It is always our students that ground us in challenging and uncertain times. They give us purpose and a sense of gratitude. So, thank you for being part of the Asa community.
Finally, if your family or your child is in need of additional support, please do not hesitate to reach out. Mrs. Erhardt, our school counselors and the district social workers have resources to help support you. Additionally, because children thrive on routines and predictability, planning some of your favorite family traditions may be just what everyone needs. We are certainly looking forward to Asa traditions here at school too.
Be well, and remember we are here if you need us.

Asa C. Adams PTO Corner
Dear Asa Adams Families,
We are so thrilled with the level of engagement we've experienced this year and would love to see that energy and enthusiasm maintained. In the coming weeks/months there are a number of opportunities for you to help out the PTO (and thus the school community as a whole). So you can best decide where to spend your time and money, we’re listing them ALL below. Thank you for your consideration. We are your PTO and we can’t do this without you!
1. Governor’s Restaurant Fundraiser on 11/7 - Take a break from cooking! Governor’s Restaurant at 963 Stillwater Avenue in Old Town is generously donating 10% of all sales to Asa Adams PTO - dine in or take out.
2. Parent Teacher Conferences on 11/8. We are looking for folks to donate homemade foods (soups/chilis/stews, salad, bread, dessert, drinks) for our hardworking teachers to enjoy as they stay late to share updates about your child's progress so far this year. Sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0F4FABAA22A5FE3-parent1
3. Annual Craft Fair on 12/11-12/12. See the flier below!
Donate a craft --> https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0F4FABAA22A5FE3-craft5
Volunteer at the Craft Fair --> https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0F4FABAA22A5FE3-craft4
In other news, the folks at Darling's reached out to let us know that our playground fundraiser was one of the top 3 school fundraisers in the state and sixth out of all this year's events! We look forward to putting that $1200 to good use and have begun reaching out to people with the right skills to make this happen.
Finally, we now have a Venmo charity profile! We hope this makes it easier to donate towards bits of pto programming you're passionate about. It's @asaadamspto.
