Our teachers work hard to create lessons that focus on the needs of our students. This includes their academic and social and emotional needs. They are also diligently monitoring online work for help requests and to provide students feedback on assignments that aren't automatically graded. Google Meets for our 100% online students provide instructional support and individual support when a student needs it. Students can receive in-person help as well in the online program. The blended program not only provides on-site learning experiences for students but also provides help and support virtually and in person as well.

While the teachers, and the support they provide, are a very important part of your child's education, so is the learning coach!

There are some very important jobs as the learning coach. One is to check students' progress on a regular basis. In elementary, parents/guardians receive weekly progress reports to let them know if their student is on track. This elementary progress report helps elementary learning coaches work with their elementary-aged students. In 6-12, we have Odysseyware, which tracks students' progress. The best way to monitor students' Odysseyware progress is for them to log on to their Odysseyware account and show the learning coach the "Courses" tab. Here the coach can see their progress in each of their classes and their grades. The coach can work with students k-12 to set goals for progress and grades each week, month, and quarter.

Students also need a routine to be successful in school, particularly in online learning. A good way to get your student into a routine is to have the coach develop a daily schedule with them. Ask older students when they want to start their learning every day. Help them to plan for breaks and work time. Make sure their schedule is realistic and that they can meet their daily required schooling hours.

Finally, coaches should ask teachers for help when they need it. Coaches should encourage students to ask their teachers or their coach for help when they are struggling or are stuck in their schoolwork. Teachers are willing, ready, and able to help when the learning coach needs "backup." Students can also message, call, or email their teachers anytime they need help.

You and the learning coach are a critical part of your student's education and we value your efforts. We appreciate you and the learning coach for being our partner in your child's education.

Kids Aid is here to help with extra food over the weekends so our Grand Valley kids can be kids! We serve 70 sites from preschool through college and provide up to 2,000 food bags per week. We give bags to any child, no qualifications necessary. Be sure to ask your school site coordinator, administrator, or teacher to get you signed up! (All requests are anonymous.)

Food bags contain breakfast, lunch/dinner, and snack options to cover weekend meals for one child. We do our best to offer a variety of items based on availability and cost. Families with multiple children can request a bag for each child in the household. Starting in the fall of 2021, Kids Aid will partner with Food Bank of the Rockies to include kid friendly, easy to cook recipes to encourage creative and nutritious meal preparation with items included in our weekly food bags.

• October 19th-21st is Colorado Free College Application Days. We will have a college application workshop on Thursday the 21st from 9-11 am and 1-3 pm in room 201 for anyone applying to college for the Fall 2022 semester.
• West campus (online students) picture retakes will be on October 13th from 8:30-11:00 am.
• The end of the 1st quarter is October 13th. Middle school students will be getting new electives for the 2nd quarter.
• Our school's advisory committee will be meeting on October 13th at 4:00 pm. This meeting will be virtual via Google Meet. The meeting can be accessed by going to meet.google.com/qux-tics-bgi.
