Memorial High School
Campus Newsletter-updated 11/9/23
Principal Message
I hope this message finds each of you in good health and good spirits. This week we start the 3rd 6 weeks of the school year. Every student who was present during Advisory Class on Wednesday, received a copy of their report card and reflected on their academic progress during our ABC check ins. We ask parents to sit down with their child and discuss grades and attendance, and how the student will meet their academic goals. Parents will also be getting a copy of their child's report card in the mail, with other important information from our district and campus. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
In my newsletter you will also see important dates for upcoming events. Please look for picture dates that include 9th-12th and senior camp and gown pictures. In addition, we will be hosting more parent meetings for all grade level parents, and also a series of meeting for senior parents only. We look forward to seeing you at our sessions. We will be sending out the 2nd semester meeting dates and topics at the beginning of the 4th six weeks.
Our Memorial staff is committed to supporting each student and family we serve, so please reach out to us if you need any assistance. In collaboration with our families, we ask that you support your child by:
- Making sure your child is in school by 8:10 AM and remind your child to attend all classes. Reminder that we are a closed campus, so students are not allowed to leave school during the school day, including lunch time.
- Communicating with our staff when your child will be absent.
- Having your child join a club or organization.
- Checking in on our child's academic progress and communicating with our staff if assistance is needed.
I look forward to meeting and supporting your family through out the year. Please reach out to me if you need assistance. I can be reached at 210-898-4110 x 8301, or at miguel.elizondo@eisd.net . Blessings to each of you and your families.
Respectfully,
Mr. Elizondo

Gobble! Gobble! Thanksgiving is almost here! Let us give thanks with a grateful heart for all of our blessings. Thanksgiving presents us with a great opportunity to increase our feelings of gratitude for everything in our lives. This is wonderful for our stress levels as well as our relationships, our life satisfaction, and our overall health.
The focus on gratitude that surrounds Thanksgiving is particularly good for us because it reminds us of how easy it is to increase our feelings of gratitude about everything we have, making it easier to feel that we have “enough” when faced with the barrage of marketing that starts before Black Friday and continues through the new year.
Actively cultivating gratitude can also help with other things related to the holidays, such as dealing with “difficult” family and friends during gatherings, managing travel stress, or handling loneliness or winter blues that sometimes fall during the holiday season. To read about exercises to practice gratitude click here .
The counseling department has begun choice selection for next year. If you have any questions about next year for your child, please contact your child's counselor.
The DREAM center is ready to help your senior apply to college, submit FAFSA in December, search and apply for scholarships, and explore career and military options. Please have your senior meet with DREAM center staff as soon as possible to meet application deadlines. We also ask you to join us for upcoming parent evening events about how high school works, advanced academics, college readiness, and other college going activities.
Hope you have an outstanding Fall season!
Thanks,
Ms. Fisher
