Washington - Caldwell Parent Update
Week of December 4, 2023
Message from our Principal
Hello Bulldog Families,
In our last parent update, we shared our Save Our School message regarding the upcoming operational referendum for the April 2, 2024 election. Over the past several weeks, the Strategic Planning Committee has been working on messaging and communicating the urgent needs of the school district. We will be providing frequent updates over the next several months prior to the election.
It is critical that our school community understands that we are facing a significant deficit over the next two years that will impact our ability to remain a working school district. We will be scheduling upcoming referendum information sessions for the school community, as well as communicating through various platforms. Please be on the lookout for dates and times for these sessions.
The Performance Services facilities contract was recently approved by the School Board and shared with Performance Services. The next steps in the facility work will be to start the bidding process for subcontractors. We encourage our school community to provide any names of vendors or contractors to add to the list of vendors for the bidding process. We value your input.
As athletic director I am happy to share that the boy's basketball season is underway. We recently had away games at Brighton and Kansasville. Our coach and school parent, Adam Shreck, has put together a highly competitive team. The main goal of athletics at Washington-Caldwell is to help develop character, teamwork and sportsmanship. Our boys basketball season will extend into January, so please check our school calendar for dates and times of games. We would love to see you at the games!
I have reserved office hours each week to meet with parents to discuss school improvement ideas, concerns or to simply meet with you to increase parent engagement throughout the year. Office hours are on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. You may also contact me via email at kmccormick@washcald.com, or by phone at 262-662-3466, Ext. 166.
Sincerely,
Kevin
