Cheers for Children - From now until December 17th, DATA is collecting dried foods (such as rice, pastas, instant mashed potatoes and dried beans...no Top Ramen, please) to help families in need. Students who bring in 10 items to Ms. “K” will receive a mile pass.
English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) Meeting - Thursday, December 17, 6:00 pm, in the DATA library, we invite you to our ELAC meeting, where you the parent, are the most important! Come learn about topics that are important to the success of your English Learner student(s).
PTSA Drop-in-the-Bucket Campaign - Many thanks to all who have already contributed to our campaign, but we are still $3000 short of our goal. Remember, this campaign is in lieu of asking for money through sales and other annoying fundraising; we are simply asking you to give a one-time, tax-deductible donation. Proceeds support DATA events. Now is a great time to give and still have the donation count toward your 2015 taxes. Please bring cash or checks payable to "DATA PTSA" to the front office.
PTSA Member's Coupons Now Available - If you have already joined the PTSA, your membership packets, including coupons to McDonald's and Baskin-Robbins, are available for pick up in the front office. Now is also a great time to join PTSA. Envelopes are available in the front office. Membership cost is $7.
6th and 7th Grade Parents: BoxTop Coordinator Needed for Next Year - The current BoxTop Coordinator's student is in 8th grade, so she would like to train a replacement for her position. The position entails bringing the collection box to the front office, tallying the tops and submitting the claim. Our last BoxTop collection brought in over $400 for DATA. Please contact Ms. Erin, in the front office, if you are interested.
8th Grade Class T-shirts - Don't forget to pre-order your 2016 Class t-shirts. T-shirts If you did not get an order form, please see Ms. Erin in the office. All pre-orders are due on December 11th.
Yearbook – Yearbooks on sale now for $35 from now until February 1st. Layaway program starts at $5. This year, there will be an online version of the yearbook and opportunity for the community to upload photos directly to the yearbook staff.
Graciela's Dream: One Family's Journey to College: A college awareness program for parents and students - Wednesday, January 13, from 3:30-5:30 pm, in DATA Room H-2, we invite you to participate in our family reading program for parents and students. The main goal of the program is for you, as a parent, to learn how to support your child in school and to understand what it takes to go to college. You will be introduced to the college preparation and application process and learn how to use the resources at your school. Space is limited. Please contact Mrs. Vega-Manriquez with any questions via email email@example.com or by calling the school at (805)641-5165.
Childcare Toys and Board Games. We need your help! DATA is gearing up to host a few parent programs and we are in need of toys and board games donations for our childcare programs. If you would like to donate an item, please deliver any donations to the front office. Thank you!
Obligations - Many books are overdue. Notices will be going home to let families know what is owed. If payments are not made or a payment plan isn't established, kids will miss out on activities and their grades could be withheld. This also applies to books or money owed to other schools.
Accelerated Reader Party - Collectively, we are 1/3 of the way to the 30,000,000 word goal, and we are 1/2 way through the quarter. Encourage your kids to read!
Read to Succeed! - Attention all 6th graders: Did you know you can earn a FREE ticket to Six Flags Magic Mountain by reading? All you have to do is read 6 hours and complete a reading log. Stop by the library for details. Congratulations to Lucy Eckberg, our first 6-hour reader
