GSE Brown Bag Series with Dr. Su-Je Cho
"Training Educators and Parents to Use Function-based Interventions for Children with Challenging Behavior"
Dr. Cho will present her research on training educators and parents to use function-based interventions for children with challenging behaviors. A function-based Intervention is an effective and practical approach to address challenging behavior. All behavior serves a function; if we understand why a behavior is occurring, then we can be more likely to design and implement an effective intervention. We can make lasting changes by finding better ways for students to meet their behavioral needs. It begins with identifying the function of the behavior and implementing an intervention plan to address its function. Dr. Cho will present her findings and describe how she has trained educators and teachers to use function-based interventions as well how children with challenging behavior respond to the intervention.
