Consent of the Governed
Consent of the Governed means that citizens agree to vote for a new president every year and they must consent (give permission for something) with whatever the leader decides to or not to do.
Representative Government
A representative is when citizens of a country all vote on someone to represent them and to listen to their ideas and how they feel on certain topics.
Rule of Law
The rule of law means that no one gets any special treatment when involving the law. Everyone must abide by the laws no matter who they are.
Individual Rights
Individual rights are things that every citizen in the United States have a RIGHT to.
Checks and Balances
Checks and Balances is a way to make sure the governments power stays under control. Two systems used are the Federal system and the Three Branches of Government
Judicial Branch
The Judicial Branch decides if laws are Constitutional and can over turn ruling by other judges.
Legislative Branch
The Legislative Branch has the power to make laws and approve presidential appointments.
Executive Branch
The Executive Branch signs/vetoes laws and appoints federal judges.
