The Swedish in Kansas

The story of Lindsborg By: Emily & Melany

Our immigration group is the Swedish from Sweden.

The Swedish came from a country in Europe. Then they came to the United States of America and they setteled in Kansas and they stayed in a town called Lindsborg which is in Kansas.

People immigrated to Kansas because the farms were getting smaller and smaller in Sweden. There was not enough food, and it was too crowded. And the soil was not good for crops. Immigration groups were making flyers to encourage the Swedish to move to Kansas in a town called Lindsborg.

They found lots of things in Kansas. They found hardships, extreme weather, and lots of honest people. They were used to lots of trees and forest, and did not find that in Kansas.

The immigration began in the 1870's.
