Math Update-

Lessons this week will include 3.10 and 3.11. We will then do some word problem and performance task work before we take a math assessment next Tuesday. Look for a graded quiz to come home with homework tomorrow.

Social Studies Update

We have almost concluded our aerial tour of the state. I hope that they have shared some of their favorite sites with you.

From Mrs. Johnson

Reading: Students are continuing their work in our Journeys Readers Workshop. We continue to look for new vocabulary words in our individual novels and have been practicing our dictionary skills to find the definitions. This week we will also focus on character traits, foreshadowing, and summarizing.

Writing: We are making progress in our opinion writing unit. Students are in the process of selecting their opinion essay topics/issues. They will begin this week formatting their essay including creating a thesis statement and introduction, and providing 3 reasons to support their thesis. If students didn’t finish their brainstorming for 4 possible topics in class today, it is homework tonight.

Ways to Help at Home

Dreambox- this is a great resource to support students with their use of numbers. We are sending a second letter home with the homework tomorrow that tells you how to access and use this program at home. If you are concerned about your child as a math learner, you can use this site to monitor their progress from a parent account. Please email Mrs. Younce if you have any questions about this resource.
