Namib Desert

What is it?
The Namib Desert is along the coast of Namibia. It is over 2000 kilometers in length.
Why is it Important?
Rainfall is annual, and many people get water from the rain.

Cape of Good Hope

What is it?
The Cape of Good Hope is a rocky land that lies at the southern tip of South Africa.
Why is it important?
The Cape stopped trading ships sailing between Europe and European colonies in the east.

Johannesburg

What is it?
Johannesburg is the commercial center of the country.
Why is it Important?
It is the most populated and richest city in South Africa.

Zambezi River

What is it?
Africa's fourth longest river, goes across six countries.
Why is it important?
The Zambezi uses hydroelectricity for power. Most of Africa's power comes from this river.

Limpopo River

What is it?
It stretches across South Africa for 1,087 miles and empties in to the Indian Ocean.
Why is it Important?
It is a very important resource of water in South Africa.

Lusaka

What is it?
It is the capital and largest city of Zambia.
Why is it Important?
Lusaka is the center of both commerce and government in Zambia.

Kalahari Desert

What is it?
It is a sandy savannah in Southern Africa extending 350,000 square miles.
Why is it Important?
The sands of the Kalahari has Carbon Dioxide from the Atmosphere.

Cabinda

What is it?
It is the administrative capital of Cabinda Province, which is an exclave and Province of Angola.
Why is it Important?
Cabinda developed as an important agricultural and forestry center, and in 1967 it discovered huge offshore oil fields.

Orange River

What is it?
The river forms part of the borders between South Africa and Nambia, and also the borders between South Africa and Lesotho.
Why is it Important?
The Orange River helps the South African economy by providing water for irrigation, as well as hydroelectric power.

Victoria Falls

What is it?
Victoria Falls is a waterfall in southern Africa on the Zambezi River at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Why is it Important?
Even though it is neither the highest or the widest waterfall in the world, it is claimed to be the largest.
