Casey's Kids
Casey’s Kids is a program that was started to help KISD students who are in need. KHES P.E. teacher, Mrs. Shipp has been giving out Casey’s Kids paper shoes to students who donate a$1.00. We want to thank all of our students and their families for their support. With your help, Mrs. Shipp raised $848 so far. Friday, Dec. 12 is the last day. That total could go up depending on what might be donated tomorrow. Congratulations to Mrs. Tavarez's class. Her class was the first class to raise $100! Mrs. Allen's, Mrs. Clepper's & Mrs. Juro's classes also raised over $100. Thank you again for helping our community through Casey's Kids.

Early Dismissal Requests after 2:30 pm
We are closely monitoring the number of early dismissal requests that take place after 2:30 pm each day. We are noticing that some students are being signed out early on a regular basis. We understand that emergencies and/or appointments do happen however, we ask that you allow us to work with your child until the end of the school day. The last 30 minutes of the school day is an important part of your child's day as they might miss an important topic covered in their regular class or co-curr class.
Our front office staff continues to work very hard with making sure all dismissal changes, messages, and any other communication from you to your child is done in a timely fashion. All dismissal changes & messages will continue to be given to teachers at 2:30 each day. Please make every effort to communicate your changes on or before 2:30.

$5,000 dollar scholarship & $400 grant opportunities from KISD food service provider Sodexo
A Message from Steve Dunmore, President of Sodexo Education
Dear Friends,
As you may know, Stop Hunger plays an important role in building stronger communities around the globe and in our own backyard.
Throughout the year, our employees give back to their local communities by supporting Stop Hunger and Sodexo Foundation, and I would like to personally thank you for that.
The programs funded through Sodexo Foundation help our communities thrive. We know we can’t end hunger alone and we are proud of the work we are doing, and we need your help to share a few opportunities with your students.
First, Sodexo Foundation is accepting applications for the Stephen J. Brady Stop Hunger Scholarship program now through Dec. 5. This program recognizes students who are finding creative solutions to eliminate hunger in America. To support their innovative efforts, winners get a $5,000 scholarship for school and a $5,000 matching grant to give to the charity of their choice. Help spread the word: #GET5GIVE5 and Impact Millions!
Additionally, Sodexo Foundation is offering $400 Youth Grants for youth-led service projects that bring together young people, families, Sodexo employees and other community members to address child hunger during Global Youth Service Day April 17-19, 2015. As a board member of YSA, I am particularly proud of this program and we have had significant Sodexo engagement in the past projects. The application period remains open until Jan. 15, 2015.
Please share these opportunities with your students and don’t stop there—help spread the word on social media and beyond. Visit SodexoFoundation.org for official rules and the application, or contact me with any questions.
Warm Regards,
Steve
