Classroom Update
We have a busy and fun week ahead in first grade!
Monday is our first afternoon working on our TAPAS grant project, Building a Community. Students will work with artist, Leslie Rosenburg using wood pieces to design and build a model community.
Thursday is our field trip to the NC State University Minerals Research Lab. We will be leaving school around 9am and should be back by 11:30am. I sent home another permission slip for those students I haven't received yet, so please be sure to send in asap.
** UPDATE **
- Our lunch time on Friday for the Thanksgiving meal is 11:45, so a bit earlier then normal.
- We have enough snack to get us through this week, but donations are appreciated.

Our Learning Goals
Writing: We will finish writing our night creature narratives this week.
Math: We will be concluding our unit on addition and subtraction story problems this week.
Science: We are starting to learn about and observe rocks and minerals with a visit coming up to the NCSU State Minerals Research Lab.
Social Studies: We will continue working with maps, including navigation using cardinal directions. Students will learn about how a community is planned and will be working in groups to design their own community.
