ELA Pacing Guide
Principals are looking to gather feedback from PLCs after our first year with the ELA Pacing Guide. I'll be coming to PLC meetings or teams can come to me with a good time to discuss it. I'll be looking for feedback regarding
- number of standards in each trimester
- phrasing of standards (understandable for parents?)
- trimester(s) the standards are assessed on report card.

Additional Important Information:
- On April 23rd, a team consisting of Faith, Jen Craig (principal of Washington), Joan, Bridget, and Meredith will be at Johnson to conduct a walkthrough. They will be using the ELA, FIT, and Math Reflection guides to observe instructional practices at Johnson. The rubrics can be found on the teaching and learning site. Please make sure you are adhering to guides. Make sure all learning targets are posted in your rooms. Students must understand the learning target and be able to state the learning target (1st grade and kindergarten are the exceptions for students stating the learning target). First graders should be able to point to the learning target.
- Remember to keep the ELA and Math reflection guides in mind when teaching.
- Remember to have your learning targets posted where students can view them and the standards need to be written in student friendly language.
- POD A starts on May 11th and ends on May 22nd. Please make sure you are at your post on time. Students enter the campus at 9:05 am. Remember, all specialists must remain at their post until 9:15 am. Thanks.
- Remember to complete reflection forms for discipline and behavior
- Remember Homework Club has started. It is designed for students who can complete homework independently. Once a student has completed their homework, they are to be released to recess. It is not designed to be punitive.
- We have an abundance of backpacks and some school supplies. If a student is in need, please see Julia, Derick, Jackie, or office staff and we will provide backpacks.
- Remind all students to follow the hallway procedures:
- Stop at all stop signs
- walk on the right hand side of the hallway
- Single file lines
- Teacher in the middle of the line, not the front (monitor your line)
- No talking in the hallway
- We are looking to get additional volunteers at Johnson. Please let me know if you would be interested in a volunteer in your classrooms. When volunteers contact me I will know which classrooms to send them to. Thanks.
