Encore Department Newsletter

3rd Quarter


I am very excited about this "techy" tool introduced to me at the FHSD TechFest....especially because the Encore department does not have many opportunities to meet. Hopefully this will get information to you in a similar fashion as a meeting, but without the meeting!

I will try to keep you as updated as I can, and if you have something you would like to share please let me know. Because I only get five per year, the next newsletter will be some time around spring break. I would love to be able to share pictures and video links of your student performances and events, send them my way! At the end of every flyer, there is opportunity for you to share comments and participate in an online conversation (if you click on the link) with the department. As always, I am also available by email, phone, or just pop your head in and visit with me anytime.

Please keep in mind, my current intent is for this is to replace our department meeting; it is not to promote our department to others. Promoting the Encore department will need to come later with a bigger newsletter.


Are you Up?

Got your attention, didn't I? The more appropriate question should be: Are you up to date? Most of us have started the new semester with at least one group, if not several groups, of new students and possibly a change in our schedule. Please take the time to update your SEOP binder as well as your substitute folder, before Ms. Barber has to remind us.

PLC Lync Meetings

Encore meetings will be from 2:30 -3:30 via Lync. The facilitator for each group will initiate the call and ensure "minutes" are provided to the administrator support for their PLC.

PLC Expectations 2015-2016:

  • Follow FHSD PLC Expectations.
  • Use Collaboration Guide-Electives.
  • Send electronically to PLC members, elective area administrator, all MS principals.
  • Each PLC will review and administer multiple common formatives and one common summative assessment each semester.
  • These reports will be shared with members of the Academic Team on a quarterly basis.
