Edward Jenner, Jonas Salk, & Robert Gallo

What is Virology:

Virology is a branch of the sciences which focuses on the study of viruses and organisms which behave like viruses. Researchers in this field can work with viruses that attack plants, animals, or bacteria, conducting research both in the lab and on the field.

Edward Jenner

Edward Jenner was born in Berkeley, Gloucestershire on May 17th, 1749. He was the eighth of nine siblings. His father Stephan Jenner was a reverend. He died at the age of seventy- three on January 26th, 1823.

It all started when he got the smallpox an was apprenticed by surgeon Mr Danial Ludlow for seven years. Then he was taught to assist the surgeon and soon enough needed to know how to do it all himself so he could be one as well.

Jonas Salk

Jonas salk was born in New York City, New York on October 28th, 1914. Had 3 children and a wife. Jonas was a medical researcher. He descovered and developed the very first polio vaccine. Salk died in San Diego, California June 23 1995.

Robert Gallo

Robert Gallo was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on March 23rd, 1937. He is 78 years old. He was the discoverer of HIV. He only had one other sibling her name was Judy. Robert was a biomedical researcher.
