April, 2016

Dear Principals, Presidents, Administrators, and Teachers in the Archdiocese of San Francisco,

Please note that you must be logged into the password protected DCS Website in order to view the individual items included in this Administrative Bulletin.

An Easter Prayer

May the glory
and the promise
of this joyous time of year
bring peace
and happiness to you
and those you hold most dear.

And may Christ,
Our Risen Savior,
always be there by your side
to bless you
most abundantly
and be your loving guide.

Personal Note of Thanks

As many of you know my brother Mark Russo has had some very serious health issues during the past two weeks. He is now off life support. I thank each of you for your prayers and words of support that have been sent to me. There is something very special about being Catholic and how we support one another. I feel very fortunate to have you with me during this difficult time.

Thank you.

All principals should have received an email from SchoolSpeak with directions on how to submit data for Renaissance STAR integration. Files must be submitted to SchoolSpeak on or before April 29, 2016 to support@schoolspeak.com.

We are currently developing a tool within SchoolSpeak for Archdiocesan data collection, which will include staff and school information. This additional data will be requested during the Archdiocesan data collection period, anticipated in September.

The Title II documents that were sent out last month are a bit dated compared to the documents Mary Elisalde sent out April 13th. An email was sent out to all principals on April 14 with the updated documents and additional information. Nina is still following up on two questions regarding activities that cannot be anticipated a year in advance, and recorded for her June 15th review. Just a reminder that if you do not complete the Title II plans, your school will have to pay for services.

Please have your completed plans in your Dropbox by June 1, for all counties. If you have questions about completing the forms/plan call Nina at 650-740-7818.

The updated template for your use in SFUSD can be accessed by clicking here. For your reference a copy of the 15/16 project plan can be accessed by clicking here.

Summer Return Home or Graduating

It is very important that Principals address which of their international students are returning home (leaving the US) for summer break - intending to resume school in the Fall of 2016, as well as graduating.

The DCS must prepare documentation for these students. Students leaving with intent to return, require a Signature from the DCS on the 2nd page of their F-1 (I-20) document, before they leave. Without this Signature, they will be unable to return into the US.

In addition, we would like to be informed of which students are graduating.

If you have any questions or concerns about this transition or other, please phone Alicia or Enedina at (415) 614-5666/5667. We are happy to walk you through this process or discuss.
