Week ending 9-25-2020
In person learning changes
As you may know, the BOE agreed to Dr Smith’s recommendation 9/23 regarding the change in the K-4 instructional model. Beginning Tuesday October 13th, all K-4 students can come for in-person learning Tuesday-Friday each week while still maintaining the early dismissal schedule. Mondays will remain a full distance learning day for all students.
Parents are asked to let us know if they are changing from full distance to in person learning OR changing from in person learning to full distance by October 6th. This will give all teachers enough time to ensure everything is ready for the change in schedule starting the 13th.
If your child will remain full distance-no need to do anything
If your child will remain an in person learner-no need to do anything but know they will be attending school Tuesday-Friday. There is no longer an option for hybrid learning-it is either 4 days in person or full distance learning

In person learners must be in their seats by 9:00 AM or are considered tardy. All online learners must complete the attendance task given by their teachers, call the school or email the office (firstname.lastname@example.org) by 1:50 each day they are distance learning or will be marked absent.
Any student marked with unexcused absences will receive a call at 2:30. If the office does not hear from you by 4:00, the absence will remain unexcused
If you drop off after 9 AM and the doors are closed, you must park and walk the student to the front door. You will ring the bell, tell the student's name and he/she will be buzzed in. Parents are not allowed in the building
1-Please make sure whatever adult is picking up has a photo ID and is on the list you have supplied to the main office for approved pick up. Only students who have opted out of bus transportation or have sent in a note will be dismissed as pick ups. Please email Mrs Quinlan (email@example.com), Mrs. Gallant (firstname.lastname@example.org) and the student's teacher if you are changing the days dismissal and will be picking up. If we do not have a note, the student will be sent home on the bus. Phone call changes will not be accepted.
2-All pick ups will be in the back of the school. There is signage to which door your student will be coming out of. Kindergarten will come out of the library door, 1st and 2nd grades will come out of the middle door and 3rd and 4th grades will come out of the cafeteria door. All social distancing rules apply. Please stand behind the yellow lines at all times
3-When it is your turn, you will come to the yellow line, show the photo ID and give the name of the student you are picking up. The staff on duty will verify your ID and that you are on the list for pick up. They will then call for your student. Please be patient with procedure as it is new and many students are being picked up this year.
4-If you are picking up students in multiple grades, you must follow the same protocols at each door. Please start with your older student and work your way down to the younger student.
5-According to current CT state statutes, the playground is closed.
6-Please be mindful when driving in and out of the parking lot
