ISASP

Iowa Assessment time is here! The tests were called Iowa Test of Basic Skills but recently changed to Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress or ISASP . This coming week March 28 through April 1, grades 3, 4, 7, and 8 will be taking the state tests. The following week April 4-8 students in grade 5 and 6 will take the state assessments in reading, writing, language, and math. Only 5th and 8th grades complete the science portion of the tests.

What you can do to help your student prepare...

  • Talk about how important they are, and that it is important we do our best.
  • Good night sleep throughout the week.
  • Drink lots of water.
  • Balanced evening meal.
  • Encourage breakfast.
  • Time outside to get fresh air and sunshine.
  • Encouragement and prayer!

Transportation

Beginning next week, South Winn will no longer allow students to use the buses for transporting friends to birthday parties, sleepovers, or other activities. Only the students scheduled to ride the shuttle buses and route buses will be allowed. This is due to spring sports beginning and the lack of available room on the buses.

Market Mania

Week 5 Market Mania rounds out with FIVE more winners of $25 each: Tony Moellers, Louis Pasker, Beth Hageman, Mae Becker, Reid Hageman. Winners will receive their choice of Scrip or cash.

Stay tuned we have FIVE more weeks of winners left to go! Thanks to all those that purchased Market Mania Tickets.

What Is Eucharistic Adoration?

On Wednesday, March 30 we will be having Eucharistic Adoration in Ossian. While it is true that you can pray to God anywhere and that He is always within you, it is especially powerful to adore Jesus in the Eucharist. In the presence of the Eucharist, we pray to the power and sacrifice that it represents — the body of Jesus, who gave His life so that we may live. Please join us in prayer anytime during the day.

Communal Penance- April 1 at 10:00

We will be having a communal penance service on Friday, April 1 at 10:00 am. This time includes a Scripture reading and brief exhortation by the priest. This is followed by an examination of conscience, and then the entire community prays the Act of Contrition together. After the communal part of the ceremony, those present will be able to individually confess their sins to one of the priests Father Gross has lined up to come that day. You are welcome to join us for reconciliation.
