Equations

Photosynthesis- 6CO2+6H2O+light energy --> C6H12O6+6O2

Respiration- C6H12O6+6O2 --> 6CO2+6H2O

Stages/Phases

Cellular Respiration:

Aerobic-Makes energy

Anaerobic- Fermentation (makes alcohol)

Photosynthesis:

Light Dependent Reaction-In light-dependent reactions, the energy from sunlight is absorbed by chlorophyll and converted into chemical energy in the form of electron carrier molecules like ATP.

Light Independent Reaction- In light independent reactions (the Calvin cycle), carbohydrate molecules are assembled from carbon dioxide using the chemical energy harvested during the light-dependent reactions.

Locations

Photosynthesis takes place inside plant cells in small things called chloroplasts.

Cellular respiration
, glycolysis, occurs outside of the mitochondria in the cytoplasm of the cell.

Organisms

Organisms that do CELLULAR RESPIRATION:

  • Bacteria.
  • Protists.
  • Fungi.
  • Plants.
  • Animals.
  • In short – almost ALL organisms undergo cellular respiration (also known as AEROBIC RESPIRATION)!
