Welcome to Jefferson

Welcome to Jefferson for the 2019-20 school year. We are excited to have your children be a part of our Jefferson family this year. It will be a fantastic year!!

Jefferson Meet the Teacher is scheduled for Thursday, August 22nd from 2:30-4:00. We look forward to seeing you if you are able to stop by and meet your teachers.

Parent Driveway

Big picture

Just a reminder that if the parent driveway is full you can wait in the swimming pool parking lot and the connection lane and then proceed up the parent driveway instead of parking and waiting on the street. There are safety issues created when cars are backing up along E. 8th St.

Also a reminder to please park in the parking spots and do not ask your children to come to your car in the driving lane. We do not want children crossing in front of cars. It is ok for Middle School students to be picked up and dropped off in the lane too. If you have students in both buildings please use the parent driveway instead of the bus driveway in front of the building. This driveway is only for buses. We also ask that you pull up to the furtherest open spots instead of blocking traffic further back and forcing cars to pass around for parking spots.

Jefferson Parent-Student Handbooks

Please take time to review the following Jefferson handbooks with your children:

Jefferson Intermediate Handbook

1:1 Computer Handbook

These links are also accessible through the Jefferson Intermediate School webpage under Responsibilities and Standards.

Celebrations and Snacks

The Pella Community School District implemented a new Wellness Policy two years ago. The attached letter contains links to the Wellness Policy and also the snack list. We will be celebrating birthdays each month with cake provided by the food service staff.
We do have students in the building with peanut allergies. Students bringing lunch from home containing peanuts and peanut butter eat at a peanut table during lunch. We request that snacks and other treats do not contain peanuts or peanut butter. In order to keep students healthy we ask that students wash hands when arriving at school and before and after lunch. This not only helps with allergies but also with preventing germs.

Cell Phones

Jefferson students are not permitted to use cell phones during the school day. All students phones will be placed in a lock box in their homeroom. Students will pick up their phones at the end of the day from their homeroom teacher. Any phones not placed in the lock box at the beginning of the day will be turned in to Mr. Miller. Students will have to pick up the phones from Mr. Miller at the end of the day.
