Weekly Update
“They say a person needs just three things to be truly happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for.”
― Tom Bodett
Spring Semester FINALLY in full swing
Our spring semester started off a little rocky - however - it's smooth sailing now! All scholars should be attending their spring classes now. If your scholar changed learning models, they may have all new teachers. If your scholar has any schedule issues like 2 classes scheduled at the same time OR they are missing a period, please have them contact their counselor. Those scholars with last names A-L would reach out to Mrs. Ramirez and those scholars with last names M-Z would reach out to Ms. Mayoral. If we were in person, we would catch these issues right away - in the virtual world, we need your help! Thank you in advance. Every scholar should have 8 periods on their schedule.
New Spring Semester Expectations for Virtual Scholars
As we reflect on the Fall semester, there were some areas of growth for our school and scholars. We found that our scholars were not taking advantage of all the asynchronous opportunities that we had planned for them, SOOOOOO.... we made some changes. Beginning on TUESDAY, 2/9, scholars will log into ALL classes every day. See video above for more specific details and the new schedule is posted below. Attendance will be taken in every period, every day.
Report Cards
Report cards will be coming soon. We will be mailing your scholar's Fall semester report card to the address that is on your Aeries Parent Portal. If your address has changed, please update it in your Parent Portal OR you can call 760-631-4500 for support from our amazing office staff.
Materials Distribution and ID Photos
We were so excited to see so many of our fantastic scholars this week on campus, picking up their supplies for the Spring semester and getting their ID picture taken. Thank you to all our staff for their dedication to the health and safety of our scholars and families. If your scholar did not come to get their supplies, please call the school to make an appointment. Unfortunately, ID card photos were only available during our distribution dates.
Hapara is Now Active
Our school takes your child’s online safety seriously. The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requires that K-12 schools and libraries use internet filters and implement other measures to protect children from harmful online content as a condition for the receipt of certain federal funding, especially E-rate funds.
Vista Unified has been using the Hāpara Instructional Suite to assist with this requirement, along with other important learning tasks. This was used on campus during the school day. With the pandemic and the creation of the Vista Virtual Learning Model, we will begin using the Hapara Instructional Suite to support our virtual learners beginning in January 2021. This is a great opportunity for your child/children because it will provide new ways to personalize learning to meet their individual needs, keep them safe during online lessons, and provide them with ongoing feedback on their work to encourage continuous learning and growth.
