College & Scholarship Application Deadlines
Most college admissions deadlines are on or around February 1 for fall entry. Please look at application deadlines of the schools and scholarships of interest and apply accordingly.
· Early Decision- Early decision plans are binding — a student who is accepted as an ED applicant must attend the college.
· Early Action- Early action plans are non-binding — students receive an early response to their application but do not have to commit to the college until the normal reply date of May 1.
· Regular Decision- Regular decision deadlines are typically in early January, and offers of admission are sent out in late March or early April. These students will have until May 1 to either accept or decline their offers.
· Rolling Admission- meaning they have larger application windows than schools with regular decision, early action, and early decision deadlines.Contact: Mrs. Phelps victoria.phelps@csec914.org 719-955-4702
Official Transcripts
Updated transcripts are a vital component of any college application. It’s important to verify that all of your completed courses are accurately recorded. The process for requesting transcripts at CSEC has recently changed. Please refer to the Students & Parents tab of the CSEC website for current instructions. http://coloradosprings.coloradoearlycolleges.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=385688&type=d&pREC_ID=878199
NOTE: CSU Pueblo Courses: Students who have taken or are currently taking CSU-Pueblo courses at CSEC must request transcripts from CSU-Pueblo be sent to PPCC in order for credit to apply to the PPCC Associate degree. (example: CSU-P ENG 102 is the equivalent of PPCC ENG 122). See Mrs. Phelps in the Advising office for assistance with transcripts.

Letter of Recommendation Etiquette
Most college, scholarship and job applications require one or more recommendation letters to help create a more complete and authentic picture of whether YOU are the right fit for their organization. Follow the guidelines below for the best recommendation outcomes.
Invest in building authentic relationships with your teachers, advisors, coaches etc…(non-family members) who have had the opportunity to observe your work ethic, interactions with peers, approach to overcoming challenges, leadership and community service initiatives and other extra-curricular commitments. These are the people who will best be able to represent your strengths and potential.
Complete a Letter of Recommendation Profile so those writing on your behalf have all the information they need to present a holistic picture of you. http://coloradosprings.coloradoearlycolleges.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=386176&type=d&pREC_ID=878177
Request your letter of recommendation a minimum of three weeks to a month PRIOR to the deadline needed. Ideally this should be done in person, but if not possible, an email is also fine. Remember this is a “‘request”. In some cases the person you have selected may not be available or it may not be possible for them to meet your timeline. Be sure to have a back-up list. This reinforces the importance of making connections with the people of influence along your educational path.
Once your recommender has completed your letter, follow up with a formal letter of appreciation. This is a very important professional and general life practice.

Dear Parents,
Looking at my husband’s yearbook recently, I got to enjoy a peek into his past. The pictures sparked memories of fun times with old friends, standing up to a bully who he later won over, and a basketball team he failed to ever mention playing for! He never wanted the yearbook when he was in high school, but now he is so glad his parents insisted! Just another example that parents know best.
This year’s team of 13 very special and talented kids have covered events such as homecoming, the solar eclipse, SOS events, spirit week, Harrison football games, classroom activities, and Halloween. They have proven with their latest Mountain Echoes Holiday Journal that they can produce quality publications that celebrate the best memories of the year! I hope that you will purchase a 2018 yearbook for your students, as I can proudly boast that due to my students’ hard work and talents, it is sure to be CSEC’s best!
The link to purchase a yearbook is below.
The cost is $40.00, and Jostens offers payment plans with no extra costs or interest. Let me know if you have any questions.
