Caden & Conics!
Check out these examples of conic sections on baby Caden!
Conic sections are the curves which can be derived from taking slices of a "double-napped" cone!
Circle- all points are the same distance from the center
Ellipse- defined by two special points called foci
Parabola- a curve where any point is at an equal distance from a fixed point and a fixed straight line
Hyperbola- a curve where the distances of any point from a fixed point and a fixed straight line are always in the same ratio

Button Circle
The button(s) on his PJs are circular.
Vampire Circle
The pacifier on Caden's shirt is circular, just like the conic section!
Eye of the Ellipse
Go Eagles! Caden's eyes take the shape of an ellipse.
Mouth Ellipse
The smile on his mouth looks just like an ellipse.
Ear Ellipse
Baby C's ear curves like an ellipse!
Parabola U
ZzZz...the U on Caden's shirt curves like a parabola.
Parabola Legs
His legs form the shape of a parabola.
Parabola Elephant
The elephant's legs on baby C's shirt look like a parabola!
Pacifier Hyperbola
The sides of Caden's pacifier make the shape of a hyperbola.
Foxy Hyperbola
The fox's legs on my nephew's shirt curve like a hyperbola!
Facial Hyperbola
Say cheese?! Caden's dimples/facial expression look just like a hyperbola.
The four conic sections, circle, ellipse, parabola and hyperbola, are exemplified on my nephew Caden. He is four months old and will put a smile on your face!
