A Note from Ms. Owens
The Queen of Hearts has been found! Congratulations to our Queen of Hearts winner! Thank you to the Queen of Hearts Committee for all their work to benefit Catherine of Alexandria Church and School these many months amidst this pandemic! Thank you to all those who sold tickets and all those who bought tickets! We are so grateful for the support you give to the SCA community.
I also want to give a personal thank you to all the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, godparents, cousins, etc. who wear face masks to drop-off in the mornings and pick-up in the afternoons. Regardless of personal opinions, when students see so many adults wearing face masks, it makes the tasks of reminding and encouraging our students to wear their own face masks over their noses, mouths and chins while they are at school so much easier. On behalf of the staff and faculty of St. Catherine, thank you !
In that same spirit, we ask that you continue to partner with us in a shared effort to maintain a safe environment for our school community. We have gone through extensive measures to put protocols and procedures in place for our collective health and safety. Maintaining cohorts is at the heart of that plan. We ask for your cooperation in maintaining this model whenever feasible so that our staff and students are able to experience a safe and sustained return to school.
Earlier this week, Archdiocesan schools received additional updates to the most recent requirements regarding doctor's notes as they relate to student absences and their return to school. Please see the underlined portion below for the change.
- If a student is kept home or sent home because they are exhibiting or reporting a listed Covid-19 symptom, the school will contact the parents to assess when the student is able to return to school.
- If a student is absent for two or more consecutive days due to Covid-19 symptoms, the student will need a doctor's note in order to return to school.
- The doctor's note must include confirmation of an alternate (non-Covid) diagnosis.
- If it is not possible to obtain a doctor's note, the student will need a Covid-19 test (non-rapid is highly encouraged) with negative results in order to return to school.

Peace,
Kristine Owens
A Bit More Focus on Our Quarantine and Sick Policies
