DHS Science Fair Winners Announced!
Competition took place on February 23, 2016
Congratulations to FIRST PLACE WINNER, Sydney Coldren
Sydney's project entitled "Probiotics or Nobiotics" questioned the ability of microorganisms to thrive in an acidic environment like the stomach. Great job, Sydney! Her love of microbiology will serve her well in college and career.
JOB WELL DONE, SECOND PLACE WINNER, KATIE FLYNN
Katie's project entitled "Gumcentration" questioned whether the act of chewing gum gave the user better speed and accuracy during tests requiring concentration. The research Katie did on the military's use of gum for soldiers to maintain focus was intriguing.
GREAT IDEA, THIRD PLACE WINNER, SHANNON CROLY
Shannon's project entitled "The Effects of Stock Prices on Gas Prices" required her to create a math model to determine whether there was a correlation in pricing compared to stocks. This is something near and dear to her heart as she aspires to become a new driver soon.
GREAT QUESTION, Honorable Mention Winner, LOUISA WILLIAMS
Louisa's project entitled, "Humor, Memory and Aging" posed a question related to the Ranschburg effect. Does the ability of young versus aging minds limit our ability to recall a series of information? Thanks to her Grandmother, this is a hot topic of debate!
THANK YOU MS. BREWSTER FOR MENTORING OUR STUDENTS
Ms. Brewster, along with the Science Department at Delran High School encourage our students to question the world around them. Your hard work is appreciated.
What's next for our aspiring scientists?
