A Message from Dr. Hicks
Hello Cougar Nation,
I hope you kept warm during last week's storm. Later this week, the forecast is in the low 70s and looking forward to getting some sunshine. What a difference a week makes! Reminds me of the popular Texas saying my mom would always say, “Don’t like the weather, just wait a minute.” This meme has it pegged.
This week we have a lot to celebrate. First, for the 12th year in a row, the Lady Cougar Basketball team is in the playoffs. Congratulations to Coach Marlena Brown and the basketball team. It's a fantastic accomplishment and we are super proud of their hard work. Once we know game times and dates, we'll let you know. Below is more information about the Lady Cougars win and how to buy a playoff t-shirt.
In addition to celebrating the basketball team, this week is National School Counseling Week. Our school counselors are true rock stars who work tirelessly to support our students and staff. They guide our most precious gift; our children and we appreciate all they do for our school district, students, and community.
February is Black History month and we are proud of the work happening on our campuses to honor the people, past and present, who make contributions to shape our community and country. We look forward to showcasing this important campus work and what our students are learning throughout the month.
We also want to take a moment to recognize our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. Throughout this month, we will celebrate the dedication of our CTE teachers who help prepare our students for college and career success. Stay tuned as we spotlight the various CTE programs offered in Jarrell ISD.
Cougar Proud,
Dr. Toni Hicks
