Media Minute

MVHS Media Center Newsletter - February 2016

LIBRARY HAPPENINGS

  • January was Brainteaser Month, so many students worked on different types of puzzles in the Media Center before school, at lunch, or during their study halls. In the photo to the left, you can see some finished jigsaw puzzles and a work in progress. Feel free to stop by for a minute to help with the 1000 piece puzzle!
  • Students can purchase a Chromebook charger (if they lose one or need one for a different parent's house) in the Media Center for $25.
  • Want to display your students' projects? Let me know, and we'll make room in the display case in the main hall!

RESEARCH - CITING A YOUTUBE VIDEO

If your students are using a YouTube video in a presentation or for research, they should cite the video.

Here is the MLA format (from Purdue OWL) for doing so:

Author’s Name or Poster’s Username. “Title of Image or Video.” Media Type Text. Name of Website. Name of Website’s Publisher, date of posting. Medium. Date retrieved.

Here is an example of what that looks like:

Shimabukuro, Jake. "Ukulele Weeps by Jake Shimabukuro." Online video clip. YouTube. YouTube, 22 Apr. 2006. Web. 9 Sept. 2010.
