A Pathway Forward

Reflections from the Office

Quarter 1 is in the books! Whew! It's hard to believe we are already one-quarter of the way finished with this school year! For some of you it probably felt really fast (I know it did for me). For others, Fall Break probably couldn't get here fast enough. Whichever situation sounds more accurate to you, I think it's a good time to reflect on what's worked so far and what comes next!

Some of you are probably looking at your performance during the first 9-weeks and have reason to celebrate! Take some time over Fall Break to relax and unwind! Success in a virtual school takes real commitment! You have to wake up every day with the attitude that you are going to log in and learn something new! If you feel successful right now, congratulations, you must have worked really hard! If, on the other hand, you are a little worried about what happened this quarter, acknowledge that feeling and do something about it!

Vince Lombardi is known for saying "the only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary." In order to be successful in this program, you need to commit to doing the work. There is no way to hide it! Quarter 2 is a chance for some of you to make a new commitment, one where you log in EVERY SINGLE DAY and do work! If you do this, you will find your path to success much smoother!

I'm looking forward to what a new quarter brings and cannot wait to celebrate with all of you at the end, when we see how our hard work paid off!

Have a wonderful Fall Break!

Josh

Middle School Electives (Grades 6 - 8)

CVP students in grades 6 - 8 will have an additional opportunity to add elective courses to their schedule beginning in Quarter 2 for the remainder of the school year. The first elective that all students in grades 6 - 8 will take is Middle School: Digital Citizenship. In Quarters 3 and 4, students in grades 6 - 8 will have the opportunity to take additional electives if they choose to do so. A detailed list of the available electives will be shared in November to schedule electives for those quarters.

  • 6th Graders - may add 1 optional elective to their schedule for each Q3 and Q4.
  • 7th & 8th Graders - are required to take 1 elective each in Q3 and Q4 and can take an optional 2nd elective. (Note: if you are already enrolled in 5 courses, adding an elective is optional.)
