Congratulations Ramsey Debate Team!
This past Tuesday, March 9, over 70 middle students from the metro area competed in the third and final regular debate of the MN Urban Debate League's season. Congrats to the following students from Ramsey who earned medals on Tuesday! In addition, Kiernan, Andorra, Kidist, and Eleanor will advance to the citywide championship on March 25.
We are proud of all 14 debaters from Ramsey who debated competitively this year. Thirteen of our debaters were new to the team, and they learned about policy debate and this year's topic of criminal justice reform virtually!Great job, team!
Technology Support:
Families,
Please remember to bring student iPads to school each day. They are needed for Onsite Support and April 14th for In-Person Learning. The iPad remains the basis of the district’s Personalized Learning plan.
iPads should be fully charged each day. If iPads are not at school and fully charged, students’ access to learning is limited. The case and keyboard should be attached to protect the iPad. Having a full keyboard definitely helps with middle school writing, but it is also keeping the screen from breaking.
If you need a charger, case, or keyboard, we can get you one during Onsite Support, In-Person Learning, or Virtual Learning. Please contact your Foundations teacher or me for help.
Thank you,
Cara Hagen (She/Her/Hers)
iPad Teacher

IB-MYP Update:
One of the things that I value most about the IB is that it is focused on lifelong learning and a growth mindset. A recent IB blog written by IB Diploma Programme graduate Sobina Yu emphasizes the importance of lifelong learning and the ability to bounce back from mistakes and failure: "Let this be a message to everyone who experienced having a failing grade in their life not to feel defeated. Make sure that you are actually doing something to improve yourself. Use this opportunity as a learning experience for you to work even harder. After all, learning doesn’t stop from failing grades." While we want all students to do their best, students can learn valuable lessons by learning how to grow and improve from assessments that do not go as well as they hoped. In the last few weeks of quarter 3, we encourage students to look at their mid-quarter grades as an opportunity improve rather than an inevitable outcome for the end of the quarter. Being a good communicator with teachers about the possibility of re-doing assessments or making up anything that is missing are two things that can help students to have a positive end of the quarter.

Ramsey Resiliency:
Thinking on Anxiety-
If you think, then you already have an awesome anxiety-management tool.
Your thoughts create your experience, and your assessment, of life. Your attitude, or the way you think about things, is one of the most powerful tools you have to help you prevent and manage feelings of anxiety.
Since you are the only one who controls your thoughts, at every moment you have the opportunity to create, for yourself, a peaceful experience or an anxious experience. Are you a "glass half full" or a "glass half empty" person?
Your thinking matters!
Food Pantry Update:
We are always seeking donations of food, diapers 5/6, personal hygiene products, and cleaning supplies. Please drop these items off on Friday's between 7am-12pm at Ramsey. If you would like to volunteer to help pack and sort out items on Friday mornings, please email Alicia.Ekegren@spps.org. If you have questions, please call 651-744-7397 or email Alicia.Ekegren@spps.org
