Parent and FAMILY engagement is important now more than ever re-entering the post pandemic world. Thank you families for all you do!
Parents' Right to Know
In compliance with the requirements of Every Student Succeeds Act, the Griffin-Spalding County School System would like to inform you that you may request information about the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher(s) and/or paraprofessional(s).
The following information may be requested:
- Whether your child's teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction
- Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived
- Whether the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher.
- Whether the child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
Home-Parent-Student CompactA School-Parent Compact is a jointly developed agreement with parents. The compact outlines how the entire school staff, parents, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and how they will work together as partners to make sure all students reach grade-level standards. The compact may be accessed at any time by visiting the Parent Resources page of our school's webpage. | School Family Engagement Policy This is a policy that describes how Cowan Road Middle, will provide opportunities to improve family engagement to support student learning. Cowan Road Middle, in meaningful consultation with parents, jointly developed with and agreed on with, a written policy that includes relevant activities and actions that support effective parent and family engagement and strengthen student achievement. This policy may be accessed at any time by visiting the Parent Resources page of our school's website. | District Policy Like the school level Parent and Family Engagement Policy, the District Parent and Family Engagement Policy outlines the expectations for parent engagement activities and describes how these activities will be implemented and evaluated at the district level. You can read the policy by one of the following ways: • GSCS Parent Engagement Page website • New Student Orientation Packets found in the front office of your school • The Parent Resource Center located at 234 E. Taylor Street in room 121 Additionally, the District Parent and Family Engagement Policy will be sent to all parents via U.S. mail on or before November 1. 2022.
