Local holiday fun....
Tamale Festival & Christmas Market
This sounds too yummy to be true. It is the 3rd annual event for this tasty and free family festival. There will be a skating rink, vendors, a kid zone, pics with Santa, carolers and, of course, tamales!!! December 2nd (8am - 5pm) at the Dallas Farmers Market.
Also, to enjoy more holiday fun, head on over to NorthPark Mall. On December 9th & 10th, there will be a Camp Gingerbread to benefit Shared Housing. All goodies will be supplied and the cost is $12 per child. All proceeds benefit this non-profit organization that helps with housing options for those in need. Sat: 10am - 5pm and Sun: 11am-4pm.
In addition, the mall offers Scrooge Puppet Theatre performed Le Theatre de Marionette. This free event is located in the eastcourt near Dillards. The show will be daily and begins at the bottom of every hour, Monday through Saturday, 11:30 - 8:30pm and Sundays - 12:30 - 6:30pm. Christmas Eve - 10:30-3:30pm.
Need to do some last minute shopping? The Holiday Gift Bazaar is conveniently located just down the road at The Colony High School! It will be held Saturday, December 9th, 9am - 3pm. There will be over 70 vendors and lots of gifts, food, drinks and fun. TCHS Cheerleaders will be hosting a breakfast with Santa from 8 - 11am.
25th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Art, Essay and Photography Contests: GRADES 4 - 12
All work must be original and relate to Dr. King’s ideals, philosophy, principles and incorporate this year's theme: Embrace Unity: Be the Change! Students in fourth-through-twelfth grade are eligible to participate in this contest which includes the categories of art, photograph or an essay. Send entries to: LISD Bolin Admin.
