Dear GRE Families,
We had another great week at GRE! There was definitely a buzz of excitement with Trick or Treat and all the fun Fall activities that wrapped up this week. If you have extra candy from Trick or Treat that you would like to donate to Treats for Troops please have your child bring it to the office by Friday.
November kicks off our annual food drive for GRE! This year we’re partnering up with all the other elementary buildings to “STUFF THE BUS” so along with the flyer you will see in your child’s folder we will loading all the food to a bus on November 22nd!
This week we will have Art Day on Friday. This year we will have 8 NEW visual and performing artists and 2 returning ones join us to spend the day with the students. The day kicks off with an opening ceremony to introduce the artists, followed by sessions throughout the day, and then coming back together to see what we accomplished. Even better is that as Art Day wraps up, we will begin celebrating our Veteran's with song, speech, and other special recognitions. Friday is going to be one special day at GRE. In order to pull this off, we need your help! Head over to the GRE PTO Facebook page or click here and sign up to help!
Here's to a great week!

Important Info
2. Please do not drop your child off in the bus loop! We have buses that arrive at different times and it is not safe to pull up to the bus loop side and let students out. It can also be very frustrating for the parents who have followed the correct procedures and waited in line to safely let their children out in the direct care of a staff member. We appreciate your adherence to this policy. If you have questions, please contact me directly.
3. Please make sure you are extra cautious during arrival and dismissal if you park back by the pavilion. We have had some students walking to cars through the parking lot while others are backing out of parking spaces. If we all take extra precautions we can keep our students safe. Also, if your child meets you at your car, please review safety procedures such as staying on the side walk and being extra alert when cars are backing up.
4. It's that time of year already! Please check out the resource below provided by our District Nurse, Megan Truax-help us keep our students healthy!
Specials Spotlight: PE with Mrs. Grieger
KG & 1st- We continued working with manipulatives, this time, we explored with scarves! They had fun doing different challenges with the scarves and ending with a fun game and song. We then played a fun pirate game! Ask them about this, it is definitely a new favorite!
2nd, 3rd & 4th grade- We've been working on Floor Hockey. The first day, we worked on Passing and Shooting. Some grades/classes were able to add in defense and offens e towards the end of the class. The next class, the students were able to rotate through 7 different stations to refine and practice their skills. The stations included, passing, shooting, face-off, dribbling to name a few. We ended with playing 5 games and rotating through playing all of the teams in the class. I think the kids really liked this unit!
Everyone: We spent this week playing a Halloween game! It was so much fun! The lights were turned off, we had skeletons projected on the ceiling, halloween music, a haunted house, witches and pumpkins! This game focused on throwing and we had different objectives each time we started the game. This was by far one of my favorites to teach this year. The kids were laughing and they keep asking when we can play it again.
Congrats to our Golden Spatula Winners!
This week we introduced the "Golden Spatula Award" at lunch time. This prize is awarded to one class at each grade level. Throughout the week, we look for students who are following our lunch room expectations. It was awesome to see the kids get so excited-please help us congratulate our winners for the week of October 28th!
