Fall Picture Day is October 4th!

Please make sure to check your student's backpack or folder for the order forms. Fall picture makeups will be November 8. These are the photos that will go in the yearbook, so please make sure to be present!

Feed the Monster!

This month we are collecting donations of individual bagged candy for our Trail of Treats on October 27th. Classes are competing to collect the most candy to win a popcorn party. Students should take their candy to their homeroom teacher. The monster will visit classes to collect candy throughout the day.

Raise Craze Fundraiser Ends October 9th

We hope you had a chance to complete all of your acts of kindness! It was amazing seeing all of the good things our students have done over the past three weeks. As this fundraiser ends, we hope that it's just the beginning of our students doing amazing things!

Open House on October 20

We will have an Open House on Thursday, October 20th from 5:30-6:30. Come out and see what your student has been learning this year.

Fall Break is October 10-14

Students will have a holiday on October 7th. It will be a teacher inservice day. Fall break will begin on October 10. The district will be closed during this time.

Red Ribbon week is October 24-28

The week of October 24th-28th has been designated as Red Ribbon Week in New Caney ISD. Red Ribbon Week is a drug prevention and awareness campaign observed annually in October. This year's Red Ribbon Week Theme is Celebrate Life, Live Drug Free. It is an opportunity to take a stand to make a positive choice and choose a healthy lifestyle.

Dress Up Days

Monday, October 24-Wear Red to show our pledge to be drug free!

Tuesday, October 25-Wear Tie-Dye or peace signs to Keep our school peaceful and drug free!

Wednesday, October 26-Wear Crazy Socks to sock it to drugs.

Thursday, October 27-Wear a Team Shirt or Jersey to team up against drugs.

Friday, October 28-Wear a hat to show hats off to living drug free!

Scholastic Book Fair October 24-28

The Scholastic Book Fair will be held in the library from October 24-28. Shopping will be open before school from 7:35-8:00 am each morning and during Specials classes. Students are not allowed to come during lunches.

Please make sure that student's money is counted before coming to school. If putting the money in a baggie, please put the amount on the outside of the bag or on a slip of paper visible from the outside. Prices for items start at $0.54 for a bookmark. Books, school supplies, and posters do have tax so please make sure you send the appropriate amount. Students may pay with cash or ewallet. Credit cards will be accepted from staff and parents. No checks will be accepted.

Trail of Treats

October 27th will be our Trunk or Treat night. Third grade will present their music Performance of Just for Fun!. This will be followed by Trunk or Treat and the ability for parents to shop at the Book Fair.

Character Dress Up Day

Students can dress up on October 31st for our Character Dress Up day. Please avoid scary costumes, face masks or full face paint.

Veterans Day Photo Request

Veterans Day is Friday, November 11 and our Media Specialist, Ms. Young, is requesting pictures of your veterans to make a video presentation that will be displayed on the Oakley Elementary Facebook page on Friday, November 11 at 11 am.

The Why of Houses

Develop a system where EVERY student has a place to belong, be supported, and be successful. 7 Houses, 1 Community!


We are all a part of the Rocket House. The Rocket House will be divided into 7 smaller houses, with students and staff members randomly assigned to each house. Each house will be represented by one of the 7 Mindsets listed below:

Students can earn points for their House by:

  • Acts of Kindness

Every week we will reveal a House winner at our Friday House Party. Random rewards will be given throughout the year for the winning Houses. (Extra recess, popsicles, dance party, etc.)

Finding Report Cards in Skyward

Reminder, you can use Family Access in Skyward to keep track of your student's grades. Canvas Grades only gives you information about individual assignments. If you want to check on your student's overall grade, you will find that information in Skyward. You can put in a Help Desk Ticket request if you need help remembering your log-in information.
