Principal's message
Greetings Cougar Nation!
Thank you for all of your thoughtful gifts as we celebrated School Principal's Day. Next week, we will be celebrating teacher and nurses for their appreciation week.
Teachers are working hard in preparation for the STAAR Tests. Keep sending our students rested and ready to ROCK the STAAR. Our teachers chose ROCK the STAAR to set the theme to motivate our kids. As further support, our lower grades have chosen an upper grade level to sponsor and will be providing each student with a good luck goodie bag this week.
3rd-5th grade students will be taking the Math STAAR Test this Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Please make sure to send our students well rested and ready to start their day at 7:45 AM, so they can eat a nutritious meal prior to taking the STAAR assessments. Students will be starting promptly at 8:00 AM. Students who are absent will be asked to make up the test on Friday, May 12th.
Yearbooks can still be purchase online or sending the money online. Don't forget to buy this year's yearbook before they run out.
This Saturday, May 6, 2023, will be the last Additional Day, also known as Saturday Academy. The Additional Days begins at 9:00 AM.
Our campus has been organizing field trips for our students. Attendance, behavior, and grades will be items that will be reviewed. Please ensure you speak with your child to be in attendance and be on their best behavior. Remind your child that each day is a new opportunity.
I want to thank all parents for your support with our children in behavior, academics and attendance. Please continue your increased involvement in your child’s future.
Warmest regards,
Principal Camacho

Gifted and Talented Program
The last day to turn in parent nomination letters for consideration in the gifted and talented program was on January 26, 2023. Now, a committee will review the parental and teacher nomination and start the identification process for G/T program. A letter will be sent home once the committee has met notifying you and your child of their status in the process.
My child was nominated for the gifted and talented program, now what is the next step?
There is a three step process with gifted and talented program. The next step is the screening process. Now, students will have to take a series of assessments to help determine if they are eligible to be part of the G/T program.
Gifted and Talented traits
Click on the following photographs to see the traits that gifted and talented students exhibit. You can also click on the buttons to visit the National Association for Gifted Children website to find out more information about the Gifted and Talented program.
Dyslexia
Dyslexia is a learning disorder that involves a difficulty in learning how to read, write, or spell despite the instruction, the knowledge, and the sociocultural factors. Characteristics of dyslexia are: difficulty reading words in isolation, difficulty in accurately decoding unfamiliar words, difficulty with oral reading, and difficulty spelling words. If you suspect your child may have dyslexia, you can contact your child's teacher or campus councilor.
Special Education Program
The special education program, which serves students with mental, physical, emotional, and behavioral disabilities, is designed to help students reach their academic goals. At TGE, special education teachers work as a team with regular education teachers to ensure that each student enrolled in the program meets state expectations. Students, who meet criteria, will receive accommodations such as in class support, extra time to finish assignments, and many others. The special education program’s goal is to meet the unique needs of a child with disabilities. We currently have three settings which include inclusion, life skills, and resource class. If you suspect that your child may have a disability impeding their learning and may benefit from the special education program, please contact your child’s campus and request information.
