Mental Health First Aid Training
Friday, August 24th, 8:30-5pm, Wilson House
This Training is For You!
Bridgeway will be on campus Friday, August 24th to provide Mental Health First Aid Training for interested Knox employees. This is the same certificate program that has been completed by several employees from various departments and will help us to give a consistent message on addressing mental health concerns and use a common language.
Per their website;
"Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In the Mental Health First Aid course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help."
This is not a replacement for counseling. This is to assist with increasing your own awareness of those who may need counseling or some support and to feel comfortable doing it. There are a variety of levels of competency regarding mental health concerns; this training is beneficial for all levels. If you interact with people, this is for you!
Training will be on Friday, August 24th from 8:30 - 5:00 pm, location Wilson House. Lunch will be provided free of charge! You must sign up to participate!
Please email Janell McGruder, Director of Counseling Services, at jmcgruder@knox.edu if you wish to take part.
