ELM MIDDLE SCHOOL’S WEEKLY NEWSLETTER
April 22, 2022
Principal's Message
Greetings Elm Families,
We hope everyone had a wonderful week! It's crazy to believe it, but we only have 24 school days left in the 2021-2022 school year! Now is a time for our students to buckle down and ensure they're on top of their classes and all things academics! While we have many things to celebrate our students at the end of year we want to make sure our students are focused to finish the year strong!
As we continue to work together to partner to support all of our students, the Elm Middle School community encourages parents to continue to check-in with their students regularly and monitor their technology to ensure students safety.
This weekend appears as if spring has definietly sprung in the chicagoland area and I hope all of our families get a chance to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.
If you're interested in helping at our Book Fair please sign-up here!
Please take a few minutes and read through this week’s Courier! As always, should you need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. Stay safe! #TeamElmStrong

Bark Alerts-Technology Usage Alerts for Students
When schools give students access to devices and online accounts, an incredible world of learning opportunities opens up — as well as potential dangers. Digital safety is critically important to Elm Middle School which is why we use Bark for Schools to help us protect our students both online and in real life.
Bark monitors for signs of potential issues like:
Cyberbullying
Suicidal ideation
Sexual predators
Threats of violence
And more
As a school, we receive alerts that we can respond to during the school day, however we know that students use their school-issued accounts both at school and at home, and families are often in a better position to respond to urgent alerts after hours, on weekends, and during breaks. In the coming days, you will receive an invitation to create your free account for the Bark for Schools Parent Portal. As soon as you opt-in, you’ll be able to receive after-hours alerts if Bark detects potentially time-sensitive issues.
Please see this letter for more information and reach out if you have any questions!
