FOSS AGM

The FOSS AGM will be held on Tuesday 12th October, at 7.30pm in the school. FOSS (the Friends Of Saxton School) is an charitable organisation that supports the work of the school through organising community activities and undertaking essential fundraising for resources and activities that could not normally funded from the delegated budget. All parents are automatically members of FOSS, so please do come along and find out what is planned for the coming year.

Harvest Festival

The Harvest Festival will take place in church on Wednesday 6th October at 1pm. Donations of produce will be collected and will be given to Tadcaster Salvation Army Food Bank.

First Aid

From time to time, all children have injuries at school. We have qualified first-aiders on the staff and we will always ensure that first aid has been administered when it is needed and we have been alerted. We won’t usually inform you of this, but if we feel that the injury may be more serious or involves a head bump, we will always send a ‘bump note’ home with your child. If your child has had a minor injury at school and first aid has been applied, you can have confidence that the injury has been assessed and treated correctly.

Open Evening

We are holding an open evening for new families on Thursday 14th October, from 4.30pm – 5.30pm. There will be a chance to have a look around Willow classroom and have a play with some of our resources, as well as meeting the teachers. If you know a family that is looking for a school place next September please do encourage them to come along and see our school.

Activity Coach

We have a new activity coach who is starting at our school next week, helping children to be active and take part in games on Tuesday lunchtimes.

After-school Clubs

We do hope to organise after-school clubs this term, but as part of our Covid-19 risk assessment they won’t take place until after half term. We will let you know when final arrangements have been made for these to start.

Start Time

There seems to be some confusion about the start time for the school day. For clarification, the bell will be rung at 8:50am when children will line up and be brought into school. This ensures that they are ready to start their learning by 9am.

Grimston Gallop 21st August 2021

Many thanks to all those who came along to help or race at the Grimston Gallop during the summer holidays. We had over 110 runners register for the main race, a scenic 5 mile jaunt around the lovely Grimston Park estate, with the winner coming in just over 33 minutes. There was also a 1 mile fun run with a number of Saxton School pupils getting their trainers on. Overall we raised for FOSS £477.98 (and a similar amount for the Kirkby Wharfe Church roof fund).

School Lunches

Please see the Autumn Lunch menu below, next week we will be on Week 3 of the menu.

Children can decide daily whether they are having a school dinner or packed lunch.

Please ensure you discuss the menu each day with your child so they can decide what they would like to order. Once they know their choices, they will choose this each morning with their teacher during registration.

Each day there are now 4 choices, either the hot dinner, hot vegetarian option, jacket potato with a choice of toppings or a sandwich. The sandwich and jacket potato always come with a selection of vegetables/salad on the side and have the full pudding choice for that day.

Autumn 2021 Lunch Menu

From 8th September - 18th December 2021. This is our new menu for September - children now have a vegetarian option to choose from as well as a jacket potato or a sandwich.
