The Grass Valley WAG
Week at a Glance: 4/6 - 4/10
A note from Casey...
Hello Grass Valley Staff!
Welcome back from what was a very nontraditional, but hopefully restful Spring Break. As you know, Grass Valley Elementary (and OUSD schools) is closed through the end of the year, as a result of the Shelter in Place order to reduce the spread of COVID-19. While all OUSD employees are still expected to be working our regular hours daily, what that looks like for each person is very different.
As we dive into week 3 of this, please focus on the following:
- Attend to yourself and your loved ones - be sure you have taken time to truly process this historic situation and how it impacts you and your loved ones. We need to make sure we are in the right space to be our best selves for our children.
- Focus on building relationships - this change has been enormous for us, as adults, but is even more difficult for children. Use this week to assure that you know each of your students is being supported and has all their needs met - we want to assure that each Grass Valley Eagle knows that a caring adult is just a phone call/email/text away.
Please peruse the Grass Valley WAG carefully and reach out with any questions. I want to reiterate that this week is about RELATIONSHIPS and assuring students have the tools they need to engage in distance learning.
Respectfully,
Casey

Distance Learning Best Practices
You are highly encouraged to look through BOTH of these resources:
- Step by Step Guide to Launch & Lead an Equitable Online Classroom Free class, just sign up & watch at your own pace. The whole course is a little over an hour
- DISTANCE LEARNING FOR STEM TEACHERS This has great resources for ALL teachers, not just STEM- created by OUSD teachers.
EdTech & Tech Support:
- Paula is your first line tech support person at GV - if you need something check-in with her first and she will troubleshoot with you or direct you to other resources.
- However, with this new reality we're in, there is high demand, which will continue to increase and yet there is only one of her. Please attempt to troubleshoot the issues yourself first and if you can't figure it out, then check in with her.
- Do not email the HelpDesk or tech team at OUSD - they are overwhelmed and can't answer all the emails they are currently getting.
Below are some other resources that you can turn to for help:
- Ed Tech Support This has the phone numbers & emails to the support departments of our most commonly used EdTech programs. These people are experts on these programs and can answer your questions about their specific program better than anyone.
- OUSD Teacher Central This site has the latest tech updates and trainings, as well as, links to other useful district info.
