Superintendent's 2019-20 Update
2019-2020 School Year
Welcome Home!
Dear HF-L School Community,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! At all school sites and here at the Central Office, the staff is busy with preparations for the new school year. The first full day for students is Wednesday, September 4, 2019. For parents and students new to the school district our registration process can start right now by visiting this link https://tinyurl.com/RegistrationHFL.
This summer we have updated our district’s website and encourage you to make sure you have provided accurate personal information to your students’ school regarding cell phone and other communication updates. I also personally invite you to follow me, and all of our schools' sites on Twitter @gene_mancuso for on the spot daily updates from across the district. Those tweets are also posted to our website!
We continue to make several facilities improvements and all four schools and our bus garage, as well as our school grounds, will remain under construction for the entire school year. We are excited to announce that many classrooms at Manor School have been renovated, as well as playground enhancements completed. New tennis courts are complete at the high school, and numerous roofing and behind the wall improvements have been completed over the past several months. The District’s Safety Committee as well as the dedicated professional construction management firm works diligently to meet and exceed safety guidelines throughout the process.
The dedicated professional staff of the Honeoye Falls-Lima School District is looking forward to a year filled with exciting and challenging learning experiences and accomplishments for your students. Over the summer, elementary, middle, and high school teachers availed themselves of professional learning opportunities to strengthen instructional strategies, the use of classroom technology and curriculum aligned to identify power standards.
I hope parents and community members will continue your strong support of our schools and our employees. Your volunteerism, attendance at events, being present for kids, makes a difference in our students’ experiences here at HF-L. We need your partnership to continue offering an excellent education to our children. Please communicate with teachers, be a part of the PTA, join us at school events, volunteer to serve on one of our advisory or safety teams, and support our children by showing that you value school, our programs, and our teachers.
Thank you for your strong support! Again, it is my privilege to serve the community, and I look forward to welcoming our students and staff back on campus!
