Suicide Training
Please plan on attending suicide training at Westside, as listed below. If you are unable to attend our training, please select another training to attend from the list. You will need to email me, if you will attend training in another building. Attendance at one of the trainings is mandatory. Our training is the last training in the district, so please plan ahead!
Norfolk Area United Way
I have placed United Way pledge cards in your mailboxes. Please consider donating to the United Way, even if it's a small amount. This nonprofit organization directly and indirectly supports many of our students and families. The following partner agencies will be supported by United Way this year, just to name a few:
Blessings in a Backpack
Bright Horizons
Mid Town Health Care Center
Norfolk Family YMCA
Philanthropy Council of NE
Read Aloud Norfolk
Team Mates
The Zone
Girl Scouts
Student Health Fund
Many more partners are supported and I have placed the list on the table in the lounge. Please return your pledge card to the manila envelope in my mailbox by October 9, whether you donate or not. You can make a one time donation or select payroll deduction. Please leave the receipt ticket attached and I will sign and return to you. Thank you!
When to Enforce a Consequence and When to Redo a Routine
It is one of the most common questions at SCM:
"When do I enforce a consequence and when do I redo a routine?"
In other words, if there are students misbehaving while entering the classroom, for example, do you hold them individually accountable?
Or do you send the entire class back outside to perform the routine again?
It's a great question. And it confuses a lot of teachers.
