March 2019
Principal’s Message
It is unbelievable how quickly the month of February has passed. The last week of February ended with our annual celebration of Theodore Geisel, Dr. Seuss, and his work. Each day of the week between February 25th and March 1st, we focused on one of his many books with a theme. The week began with ambassadors from GMS coming to share their love of reading with a few select classrooms in our preschool and Kindergarten and then welcomed guest readers into our school for every class on the actual Dr. Seuss Day, March 1st. It was wonderful to see so many people giving up their time to pass along their love of reading during this special event. Once again, I urge you as parents to continue to pass along your love of reading by reading with your child each night. Put down the video games and pick up a good book.
CSS is once again participating in Pennies for Patients. This is the only fundraising activity that we participate in for an outside agency. Students will participate in a kick off assembly on Monday, March 4th with collections continuing through March 19th. Later that same week, students in K-3 will be treated to the ever popular Brain Wash Game Show.
Throughout this school year, I have been addressing many of the new initiatives in our school and our district. We, as educators, are proud of the recent strides and successes we have seen with these initiatives. At this point in time, you should have received an evite from your child’s teacher regarding our upcoming VIP Days. The purpose of these special days is to invite parents or a very significant someone in for a classroom visit. While there, you will be provided an opportunity to observe and participate in our new curriculums and technology. Each class is assigned a special day and time. If you have not heard, please contact your child’s teacher.
“Honesty” is the positive character trait for the month of March. At the end of each month, our teachers recognize the student in their class who most demonstrated the character trait of the month. Our Spirit Day is March 15th when we encourage all to wear their green as we prepare for the celebration of Saint Patrick’s Day!
Our first Parent Involvement evening for parents and students in grades 1-3 is in the planning stages. The theme for this evening is S.T.E.A.M. Night. Students, along with their parents can participate in their choice of several different activities. Sign up in advance is required as space and materials are limited. An evite will be sent out with a specific date and time.
Just a friendly reminder that students are NOT to be dropped off before the designated arrival time and left unattended. Students should remain in their cars until doors open. No outside supervision is available before this time. Breakfast doors open at 7:55 AM each day in the rear of the building and at the playground doors.
As always, you may continue to stay updated on school events via the web site.
