Your WGHS Weekly eNews for November 18

Big picture

Hello Parents and Guardians,

Our students will be enjoying the traditional Turkey Day activities next week. We are getting even closer with ticket sales, hall decorations, and game prep underway. I am excited to see the renewed process and pageantry for one of the truly unique defining experiences for our school and community. While the pep rally, ChiliFest, and game are eagerly anticipated, I may be the best prepared for Tacky Day (plenty of red and white attire to be found). We invite all to join us on Wednesday night for ChiliFest, followed by our community pep rally at Moss Field at 7:30pm, and then again for the game at Kirkwood at noon. Have a great Thanksgiving!

Chilifest is coming Wednesday, November 24

Get your Chilifest tickets here: Don’t miss this fun, community event that benefits our kids!

Our 2021 Chilifest is committed to being a safe environment for us to gather and show support for our High School Parents Club as well as our favorite Webster Groves and St. Louis restaurants! How will we do this?

*Masks will be required unless actively drinking or tasting your favorite chili

*Chilis will be separated into two groups (orange and black, naturally!) and will be served in separate areas to ensure less crowding. Grab your first round color: taste and enjoy, go back for your round second color: taste and VOTE!

*All tasting and voting, as well as our amazing raffle, will be in our courtyard so as to have less folks indoors.

*Arrows will be on the ground helping direct the flow of traffic from chili's to concessions to the courtyard.

We will have contingency plans for inclement weather, but if we all collectively cross our fingers and toes that we won't have to implement it, we should be good to go and have a wonderful (and safe) event!

Loving Wins State Diving Championship

WGHS junior Bennet Loving won his second consecutive championship at the Class 1 state meet on Friday, November 12 at the St. Peters Rec Plex. Bennet is a three-time state medalist having placed 3rd as a freshman and then winning the championship as a sophomore and junior. This year he won the championship in dominant fashion. He was in 2nd place through the first 4 rounds before hitting the first of 5 dives that earned him 50 or more points from the judges in the 5th round and that put him in the lead for good. The exclamation point came in the 8th round when Bennet executed a 3.5 reverse summersault dive that netted him a meet high 64 points. Congratulations, Bennet!
