ECLC Class News

Week of 2/17-2/19

What we did this week ...

I read books that the Central School's PTA gave our class from the book fair. The students really enjoyed the books, Peanut Butter and Cupcake

For our centers, the students completed a word family and counting syllable activity. They also worked with their friends to complete an alphabet floor puzzle.

Other things we did this week ....

In math, the students were introduced to 3-D shapes. They identified 2-D shapes, and ordered cylinders by height.

In phonics, the students tapped out sounds to make words. The practiced writing the letters G and H in their handwriting books. The students tapped out words for the word families -at, -un, -it and -et. It is exciting to see some of the students learning to read and beginning to blend the sounds together.

We did a review of our learned sight words this week. The students enjoyed creating words utilizing the app, Word Wizard. It is not a free app unfortunately. When you move the letter, onto the board, it says it sounds. After a few tiles are placed on the board, the students can touch the word, and it says the word.

If anyone is interested in being a guest reader, let me know.

Have a great weekend!
