Happy Holidays!
Dear Parents,
Here we are, at the end of 2022! It is a busy time filled with the hustle and bustle of shopping, traveling, visiting family, enjoying traditions, and opening our homes to visitors. On top of trying to relax & savoring special moments with loved ones.
Life at school has also been very busy! We have taken field trips, opened up our classrooms for special events (KISS event, Reader's Theater, B&G Bistro, Writing Celebrations, classroom parties, Veterans Day Celebration), and enjoyed a Math Night with our families. We have learned about other cultures and their traditions & holidays. We recently enjoyed a holiday concert performed by E.H. Greene, Jr. High, and HS students.
Our PTO has helped with back to school events, a welcome back coffee, and an awesome dance-a-thon/bounce house fundraiser! In addition to a family movie night, and a large donation towards our NEW BAE PBIS T-SHIRTS! (Coming in January!) Looking ahead, there are many more fun activities: Family Fun Night, Odd Couples Dance, Cultural Celebration, and a Variety Show!
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, students and parents for their continued support. Our school community is truly a family, and it is at this time of year when the closeness of our community shines on our students' faces. The new year will bring new learning experiences, new challenges, and new fun! We look forward to what lies ahead for our school community in 2023!
We wish you all peace, joy, hope, and happiness during this holiday season and throughout 2023!

Notes from our Nurse
We are in the cold and Flu season! We have seen an uptick in many illnesses throughout Sycamore and in our community. Please make sure you are following our illness guidelines before sending your child to school each morning! If they have had a fever, have vomited or had diarrhea in the last 24 hours they can not go to school! Even if you gave your child medication and your child is feeling better they could still be contagious. Just a reminder that children can not transport their medication from home to school and self administer. We need to have a physician’s order even if it is Tylenol or Ibuprofen and it needs to be brought to the School Nurse to administer. The school medication policy does not allow students to transport any type of medication to and from school unless the parent and physician provided self carry and administration order for only Epinephrine, Inhaler and/or Diabetic medication. Here is the link to the Sycamore Student Health Handbook on our website if you have any questions or you can call our School Nurse, Diana Wyrick at 513-686-1713. Please remind your children to be diligent with hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes with the elbow/sleeve, not touching the nose/mouth/eyes, etc. We remind students here at school to reinforce that practice but it is important to teach it at home as well. Please, also refrain from sending children to school with a fever, excessive cough or runny nose. Our policy states to keep home for at least 24 hours after fever free without medication. However, if your child was diagnosed with the Flu (Influenza) they may be contagious for up to 7-10 days from diagnosis. It would be best to keep them home for at least 5 days from the diagnosis to allow complete recovery. Most students who return to school too soon not only risk others getting ill but they usually don't feel well and it may affect their learning.
