The Front Office
We are excited to be back and see the kids Tuesday, January 5th!! Please remember to send a mask with your child each day. Keeping an extra mask in your child's backpack is also a great idea!
Pre-K
Happy New Year! We enjoyed being able to see your kids in December and hope you had a great Christmas Break. We will begin focusing on letter sounds more this semester. Most of our students have mastered writing their first names and we will start learning our last names. We will learn the letters: B, G, R & K.
Kindergarten
Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great Holiday Season. We would like to thank all you parents for being so flexible and patient during our Distance Learning. We sure were glad to be back in the classroom. In January, we will be learning about the letters Ff, Bb, and Ii. We will also continue to work on our sight words. Our Kindergarten Sight Word Club will begin. If your child knows all of the words in the top box of the sight word list, they will get a reward and be added to the first level of the sight word club! As they continue to learn new words, they will move into the next club and receive a new reward. In science, we will be learning about the Winter Season, Winter weather, Winter animals. In math, continue to work on counting to 100 by 1's and 10's, patterns, and recognizing numbers 0-20. In social studies, we will be learning about Martin Luther King Jr and our school wide Mindsets! Have a terrific January and don't forget to send your child's coat, hat, and gloves EVERY day!!!
First Grade
Happy New Year! We cannot believe how fast this year is flying by. Last month your child took their STAR tests. If your child's results were not sent home yet, they will be sent home soon. We are so excited about all of their progress made! We are still in the midsts of assessing our student's for the report card. Due to our student's being out for a couple of weeks, report cards will now be sent home on January 15th. A new reading log will be sent home with your child this month. Please make sure you are reading for at least 20 minutes a night. We are so excited to start this new year with your child and continue to watch them grow! Thanks so much for sharing your child with us!
Second Grade
Happy New Year! This month second grade will be going on with addition and subtraction in math. We will be exploring the arctic and the animals that call the arctic home. In social studies we will learn about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to our society. Read, read, read! It is so important for kids to read and ask questions about their reading so that they know what they have read. Snuggle up with good books this month!
Third Grade
Happy 2021! We will continue to work with theme, point of view, compare & contrast, along with a few of the 12 Powerful Words. The OSTP will be here (in April) before we know it. Your child should be reading for at least 20 minutes every night. This will increase their stamina and help prepare them for all of the reading they will be doing on the test. We took the STAR reading test before break. Please check their scores to see where they are. The RSA end of the year benchmark is 392 and the District end of the year benchmark is 486. Picking up where we left off in math, Unit 4 is full of geometry and multiplication. Please have your child practice those times tables! It is extremely important to know them for the 2nd half of third grade and then into 4th. In Social Studies, we will be in Chapter 1 learning about land and water, weather, climate, and forces of nature. We will also get to celebrate a little bit of Martin Luther King, Jr's life. In Science, we will move on from adaptations and into an organism's habitat. Students will figure out what is beneficial and harmful to the habitat. Please keep communicating through SeeSaw or emailing your child's teacher.
