Back to School Edition
Welcome Back!!
Where did the summer go? I hope you are making the most of the leisurely days of summer and taking the time to relax, recharge, and reinvigorate.
As people begin wandering into their classrooms, with anticipation for an exciting new school year, I want to welcome some of Alta Vista's newest staff members:
- Katherine Donlon - Katherine comes to us from Menlo Park, where she taught third and fourth grades. She is a graduate of Cal Poly and loves crafting and photography in her free time. Fun fact - Mrs. Donlon's father-in-law was an Alta Vista Cougar! Katherine will be teaching third grade in room 11.
- Liz Murray - Liz is joining our Special Education Department. She previously taught at Oster Elementary School. Although they will miss her smiling face, we are thrilled to have Liz teaching our third/fourth grade SDC class in room 23. Fun fact - Liz jumped in as part of Team Alta Vista in June, using her time after teaching Extended School Year classes to move into her new room.
- Megan O'Connor - This is Megan's fifth year as a counselor in USD, working at Guadalupe and Lietz. A Bay Area native, she enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and spending time with her niece and nephew when she's not at school. Megan loves all forms of art (especially musicals) and recently took up tap dancing. Megan will be in the Media Center.
- Megan Ostiller - Megan is looking forward to joining the Alta Vista learning community. She has taught the second/third grade SDC class at Guadalupe for the past two years. Megan is also a graduate of Cal Poly (Go Mustangs!) and enjoys hiking, running, reading and traveling. Fun fact - Megan is a triplet! Megan will be leading the RSP program in room 14.
- Annika Stark - Annika is joining Alta Vista as a speech-language pathologist, sharing the position with Jeena. She most recently worked at a private practice in San Jose. Annika received her Master of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Utah State University and is excited to be joining the team at Union School District!
You'll have a chance to meet our newest Team Alta Vista cougars at our first staff meeting on August 12th, but I thought you might want to poke your head in to say hello before then.
Similar to last year, I'm going to ask you to give us a peek at your summer. Click on this link to access this year's slide deck. Add a slide, some pics, a caption. If you want to get fancy, add a graphic or two.
Thanks,
Cathy
